Face Forward.

Weekend’s battle was victorious.
It sure feels good zapping unwanted things out of people.
The atmosphere seems pretty jittery though.
Some of us feel naked

‘Cos we’re not the same anymore.

It’s good to be cleaned-up.
But the next step of being filled-up must be immediate.
Nothing left vacant is good.
Just topitup with the right stuff.
It’s really times like these,
Our past may float before us,
All the familiar feelings.
It’ll be like sugared and spiced history seducing your appetite.
Swallow if you need.
Salivate a ‘lil you may.
But strip its deception and nip it you must.
Sometimes we must revisit the torturous trip we suffered under our ex-bondages.
(Not physically going through it. Just mentally, for safety’s sake)
Or we’ll forget where we’ve come from
And how we’ll never want to turn back.
Sounds like common sense.
But we really are like sheep.
We can get downright dumb sometimes.
I can say that because I was one fool who turned back.
The only way to win is to walk forward.
No one is spared to fight.
It can jellyup your legs when you face giants,
‘Cos every step you take,
They only get larger.
But we are given the authority and ability to conquer all.
Except that we cannot turn back.
We’ve got the helmet, shield, sword, breastplate, shoes,
But we’ve got nothing to protect our backs.
The enemy may seem big and indomitable
But really,
They fear your faces.
The nearer you get,
O’ how their hearts quake in your presence.
They know who you are.
They know what you’re made up of.
They are terrified by the Name you represent.
But they love to see your backs.
In no time they spit weapons at you.
Don’t let them do that to you again.
Face forward.
Like mirrors,
Let Glory sting Evil’s eyes.

I Loathe Fear

In our four years of friendship,
I’ve earned several lessons from Carol.
These are priceless ones.
For they have benefited my character and revolutionised my destiny.
Those that are made flesh in me are a few like these:
a. Assumption is the lowest form of knowledge
(I literally hear Carol’s voice speaking this statement everytime I think bout it)
b. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail
AND
my all-time favourite:
c. I hate fear!
(Yes, I can hear Carol saying this too)
I’m so glad I’ve grown to hate it so much,
It hardly hinders me from breaking through in different areas of my life.
This name, Fear, is one name that awakens every potential energy in me to nip it out of my sight.
What strength it has when you bow down to it!
You allow it to superglue your lips
When you know you need to speak.
You welcome it to kill your opportunity to transform and shape situations
When you come under it’s lies that you can’t do it.
This despicable character, Fear,
Paralyses the greatest dreams and destinies.
It chokes and snuffs out miracles.
It puts to death all good things.
It steals away your joy.
It withholds love.
It retards growth.
It shatters hope.
It concludes your life so pathetically:
It gives your enemy
The last laugh.
No no no.
He does not deserve any room to fool around your ground.
You must Submit to Faith
Resist Fear.
And Fear will flee from you.

I’ve Got The Extra.

Midweek was beautiful.
Everyone ventured beyond the natural and saw things they’ve never seen.
What privilege it is to now own a pair of new eyes that look beyond the natural.
It’s really sad when we are spiritually myopic.
Set before us,
Are things no human mind can understand
No nake eye can see
No heart of stone can contain
It’s really easy to forget we have another being within us.
An inner-self birthed supernaturally
For a supernatural cause.
We’ve been conditioned by the natural since birth
But now,
With a heart of flesh,
New eyes and ears,
And a new mind,
We must endeavour to experience the extraordinary.
Because you are no longer the same,
Everyday,
Desire and expect for the extra.
Don’t be afraid to ask for the More of life.
Because it’s already been put in you.
When you seek it,
You will find it.
When you knock at its door,
It will be opened for you.
When you ask for it,
You will receive.
It is hidden,
Not to be unfound forever.
But it is hidden,
To be searched
And revealed,
Ahh…Pardon my excitement.
I just love this.
Because I know that I am ordinary,
But I have the Extra in me.
And I have the Extra in my life.
I can expect the Extra.
And live out the Extra.
I’m no longer the Valerie I used to be four years ago.
Today, I am different from yesterday.
Tomorrow, I am different from today.
Don’t expect the ordinary.
For everyone has it.
The world is searching high and low for Extra
But many don’t know how could they find him.
As for us,
We have Extra within.
How about you close your eyes,
Seal your lips,
Shut your ears,
And tap into where Extra is,
That your new eyes may see him,
Your new ears may hear his voice,
Your heart of flesh may find rhythm with his,
Your mind may carry his higher thoughts and ways.
Extra,
How much I pine for you.

Worth My Fight

I had an urge to give Harry Potter an applause at his last statement in the movie.
He said, “We’ve got one thing Voldermot doesn’t have.
We’re fighting for something worth…”
I couldn’t help but identify us with the film through the 135minutes.
What a relief to know we’re not called to a predictable, still life;
No challenges to wrestle with – so we can be fitter
No surprises to jump at – to experience the highs
No problems to solve – to know how delicious triumph tastes
No times to wait – to understand the sweetness of patience
No doubts to confront us – to stand firm on our identity
No weakness to trip us – to know who Strength is.
Thank God I don’t have a stagnant journey.
It could’ve been so bland and dull!
I don’t know what’s yours like.
But if you can’t really comprehend my excitement over this,
It’s time you get started on your ride.
Stop missing out big-time.
If you have two feet standing on the earth,
The prince that rules it has already waged a warfare with you.
In a way, you are in his space.
And he’s not gonna let you off unless you rise up and show him who you are and who you’ve got in you.
Those that haven’t got the Greatest in them
Either fight or be defeated and enslaved forevermore.
This fight,
Is a fight down the grave,
A fight that punches the air and achieve nothing.
Our’s different.
We are set apart.
We are endowed with capabilities that binds everything that doesn’t belong to our State.
We fight forward,
With extraordinary confidence
That every step we make,
Is a step toward Victory.
At times,
We meet Voldermot’s servants, giants, demons of every sort
In our fight, they come in different forms –
To taunt, mock, deceive you
He’ll do anything to shake you out from this track towards Victory,
Cos he just wants you to join his pity party
To him, it’s the same principle –
The more the merrier.
He know’s he’s lost.
So to make him feel better,
He wants others to join his Club of Suffering.
Remember: like the movie depicted
He NEVER stops working.
So now you know,
It’s not only about working hard.
You can be diligently failing your way into Doomsday.
As for me,
As I stay in this fight,
I’m fighting for what’s worth my fight.
Diligently,
And also believing in my identity,
As Potter said it plainly,
‘You must not only work hard.
But also believe in yourself.’
Dependent on Who is in me.
Anyway it’s not by my might
Nor by my intellect and talents,
But by
Him who’s in me.
And together,
We can overcome the world.
Whatever my eyes can see,
He has given to me
Whatever I ask in His name,
I have found in Him.
Whatever my hands can touch,
He has made into much.
I see big. I yearn big.
Because Who that is in me,
Is
Big.

100% Of It

I’m counting down to the last minute overnight-meeting.
Thinking about it, we’ve got only six weeks before we graduate.
SIX WEEKS.
I’ve never loved school so much.
But I know I must graduate and give all I have received.
It’s not about history we have been learning.
But a different kind of life we have been imparted.
It’s not for the ones on-fire.
Every citizen of this kingdom needs it.
It’s as necessary as your primary education.
Setting aside a few months to be empowered, educated and encouraged
Cannot be compared to a lifetime to empower, educate and encourage others.
The time you give to be value-added
Only makes you a greater asset to society.
Sometimes, we tend to be too quick to judge our stand, our position.
When we don’t see what we have been promised and hoping for,
We pass a death sentence to the dream we have been given.
Truth is,
At the point when you have been made a citizen,
You are legalised and authorised for every privilege, every promise.
Why you don’t see everything you desire
Is because our President knows we are not ready for certain things.
Big dreams and visions.
Almost wild ambitions.
They’re awesome.
Powerful.
But dangerous, sometimes, lethal,
When our character and capacity cannot contain them.
Just a gentle reminder:
When it’s been birthed in your mind and heart,
Take time and enjoy
Stroll along and trust him
Hope on – wait and see
These things need incubation.
When it’s been given to you,
It’s been given 100%.
Nobody’s gonna take it away,
Unless you allow it when you abort it.
The chief-thief (you know who I’m talking about)
Is just sneaking around, waiting for his chance to pounce and steal from you.
It’s already there.
When the time has come,
You shall see it.
And know he is faithful.

Got OOMPH

This week kicked off strong.
The session today gave me that essential boost of OOMPH.
You know we people are suckers for oomph.
We want the
Adrenaline rush when
people acknowledge our strengths and publicly praise us
we hear papa and mummy say, ‘Wow, well done. We are proud of you.’
we know we are wanted by friends
the people we fancy flash us that unforgettable glance
we are celebrated extravagantly for our existence
Nothing’s wrong with any of these.
We are programmed to have such needs.
But really,
These are secondary.
Anyway,
These oomphs are fleeting.
It’s as good as trying to bottle up a butterfly
And fantasizing how it shall be your pet forever.
The hungrier ones
Who are dying of this deprivation
Eat anything they find,
Real food doesn’t matter anymore.
As long as it fills their stomach
Who cares what’s real and fake?
Like one North Korean who recently escaped to Seoul,
He used to pick out corn-bits in cows’ dung in the concentration camp.
You cringe.
To him, it’s dessert.
This is nothing but
A curse.
Developed countries brim with rosy and well-fed populations.
World-class education is our boast.
But it cannot save us from that vicious hunger.
So many times we settle for counterfeit oomph.
Fake oomphs don’t last.
Real oomphs do.
Everyone needs oomph.
Unless you choose to be a walking dead person.
Want oomph?
Get the real thing.

Of Kings & Priests

I must say this past week has been more eventful than my 21st birthday week.

One of the weekdays, I had a glimpse of my future.
Few words to describe my exhilaration – dumbfounding, amazing and motivational.
I am looking forward to see it unfold.

It’s so fun being in this course of life.

You just never guess what Inventor has planned for you.
You don’t need to be toiling your way through the rat-race the crazy world has caught herself in.

It was never a survival-kit he gave us,
So we know how we can barely make it through.
What we have received is a royal privilege.
Identified not as lowly slaves
But kings and queens,
Empowered to rule and reign.
Don’t expect just the ‘enough’.
It’s never about adequacy.
He doesn’t satisfy.
He loves to
Overwhelm.
You can expect the best from him.
But he has a passion to
Outdo your expectations.

You just need to enjoy every step -

Be it in trials and tribulations, you fight with vigour and
An exclusive confidence that victory is already won -

You just need to wrestle abit more before you claim it.
Anyway the prize is only attainable by the one who already knows it belongs to him.

Be it in good times, you leap, dance and find new strength.

Not being lifted by pride
But empowered to uplift the downcast.

Even when I trip by my faults,
I fall in his arms.

He is the king over the floods.
When oceans rise and thunders roar
I soar above all
I will be still
And know who is He,
And who am I in Him

What better life can I obtain than this?

I Create My Tomorrow

Looks like Valerictorian has become a weekly digest.
I forbid this as a permanent resort.
My Internet-phoneline-wireless-andallthattechystuff is FINALLY resolved by the big red company.
I’ve cultivated a slice of the fruit – patience,
Pretty well.

It’s been gruelling to wrestle with ridiculous connection conflicts.
Okay fineto with lamenting.
It does annoy my nerves when I find myself stuck in circumstances
I have no control over.
BUT
Today, I’m reminded of an empowering truth.
(Compliments wholly to Bobby – welcome home from 31days of Taiwan!)
See, our citizenship is not of the ordinary.
It is of another nation.
Which speaks another language.
Some of us slip back to where they came from on weekdays,
In other words, they downgrade their lives.
That place is where we’ve all come from,
Where we obey circumstances
Succumb to, surrender to and suffer under.
What a shame, what oppression we were bound in!
But in the new ground which I stand,
I am clothed with an authority.
I need not fear tomorrow.
In fact, I anticipate for tomorrow at sunset.
Only because
I believe, and I decide that
Tomorrow is going to be better.
The atmosphere I live in tomorrow,
I can determine today.
It’s like setting the alarm in my mobile phone.
I programmed it to wake me up at 615 a.m.
Then it shall blare me awake at 615 a.m.
Atmostphere is determined by Attitude.
The Visible is only created by the Invisible.
Circumstances are born from the heart -
Where motives are designed,
Decisions are made.
The heart of every matter,
Is the matter of the heart.
It’s not about how horrifying that exam is,
How haunting that past relationship is,
How impossible that target looks,
How faraway that dream seems,
How dead the atmosphere feels like now,
It’s not about what people say,
What doubts echo in your head.
It’s what you have set in your heart.
When the heart is decided,
All things flow in its way.
As a man thinketh
So is he.
As a man has decided,
So his world will be.

Peanut Butter Jelly

Peanut butter jelly
Peanut butter jelly
Peanut butter jelly
And the baseball bat
You must listen to Ryan and John beatboxing this.
I really like this piece of tongue twister.
Racy tunes do get me.
Besides this Sunday kooky-fetish,
Monday kicked off superb.
No. 1 – I finally broke through with a record time for getting to school early
No. 2 – Breakfast was fantastic with Karen Ho
No. 3 – Coffee perked me up like never before during class
No. 4 – It’s Team 16’s beloved leader, Gershon’s 24th birthday (celebrated with a KFC ‘cake’)
No. 5 – I earned some cash
No. 6 – University applications are confirmed
No. 7 – Aunt Zoe got me new glasses
No. 8 – My eyesight has improved
Lesson learnt today:
You cannnot be delusioned
Without first being
Illusioned
